Harold Carlisle letter, 1923, 2003.

The collection contains one photocopy of a hand-written letter from Clemson freshman Harold Lander Carlisle to his mother dated October 8, 1923. In the letter Carlisle mentions needing money for his uniforms, asks his mother not to write to any public officials about events going on at Clemson and asks for any information the college sent home (like grades), asks her not believe negative reports about the college (hazing) and discusses whether he would ask to be discharged if he tired of the discipline. There is also a photocopy of a word-processed transcript of the letter sent in 2003 from Jerry F. Carlisle to Dr. Jerome V. Reel at Clemson University.
